In January 2024, Britain and the world are on the edge of a cataclysmic precipice and the escalation of conflict, insecurity and inequality. This talk will examine what can and should be done to alleviate the instability in Ukraine, Gaza and Israel, Sudan and elsewhere. Global warming and the spread of food, water and migration insecurity are inextricably bound up with the violence that envelops so many regions across the world. Forging effective international cooperation is vital and fixing the defects and deficiencies in major international organisations are essential to remedying the weaknesses in the international economic and political order.
