About Michael Thacker

I have been a member of several Probus clubs since I retired in 2004. I have made presentations for many years mainly to Probus clubs, but sometimes to other organisations, particularly in South Yorkshire and in and around Nottingham and Derby. My talks which are illustrated by Powerpoint slides reflect my interests in railways and travelling around the world. During lockdown I did learn how to present using Zoom but I much prefer to have face to face contact with my audience. Any fees that are paid in respect of my talks are donated to whatever charity is my favourite at the time. For the railway-themed talks this will probably be the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway - a preserved narrow gauge railway in mid-Wales. I am prepared to travel up to 30 miles from my home in Derby provided that the organiastion I am addressing will reimburse me for the cost of the diesel I will use to get to them.
