A number of facts about Yorkshire that may be news to many. Humour is never far away in any of my talks and that applies to this one as well. Interactive and the audience get the opportunity to vote on the best Yorkshireman / woman of all time from a short-list of four of each. There is also a vote on the top Yorkshire seaside resort. Lots of information about aspects of the largest county in England, some of it will be news to all and maybe a surprise or two among all that.

About Jeff Jacklin

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jeff Jacklin and I am an experienced speaker on the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire circuit. I have been on the speaker circuit for eight years now and most of my bookings come through word of mouth or are repeat bookings. My talks have been well received by various groups including Probus, Women’s Institutes, U3A, Oddfellows, History Clubs, NHS Patient Groups, Church Fellowships, Rotary Clubs, Lady Drivers, Advanced Drivers and Community Groups, which I hope may be of interest to you.

I am now retired after serving for 30 years as an I.T. Director in a number of NHS hospitals up and down the country. One of my talks covers the formation of the NHS and goes on to look at some of the developments in healthcare over the last 70 years. Pathe News video clips as well as comedy sketches are included. I have given this talk over 300 times and I enjoy presenting it very much. A good mix of facts, emotion and humour. Suitable for all types of groups as we can all associate with the NHS.

The second talk is about my experiences as a football referee on local parks and playing fields including a match inside Broadmoor Special Hospital for the Criminally Insane. There is a strong interaction with the audience as I set them challenges in making decisions on video clips of strange football incidents. My third talk is all humour and looks at how people handle retirement. 'Retirement for Beginners' considers the different options open to the retired. Do you want to travel, take up a new hobby or just do nothing very much at all? All these are covered with a multitude of videos and comic stories from all over the world. Does your group like a laugh? Then this is the talk for you with wall-to-wall humour and almost no serious content at all.

My latest talk is 'The Complete Idiot's Guide to Yorkshire' which covers some interesting facts about Yorkshire that you may not be aware of. As you would suspect humour is not far away and Yorkshire humour in particular makes for an informative and funny talk in equal measures.

I am prepared to travel within 75 miles of my home in Huddersfield and don't charge any travel costs for the first 20 miles each way. I charge £50 speaker fee which I donate to the hospice in Huddersfield.
