My talk ‘From Clown to Corporate’ tells my story of how I started working as a children’s entertainer called Dolly Day Dream just to earn a bit of extra money to help with the family finances.
The talk then reflects upon how my career then progressed and I began working at senior level in the corporate world – all thanks to Dolly Day Dream! I make some very interesting comparisons between the world of entertaining kids and the boardroom.
I begin my story as an entertainer using some of the props from my act. So standby to see some juggling and plate spinning. You will also get to meet my favourite prop, Ernie the Emu!
I draw comparisons between the behaviour of kids and parents from social housing estates and kids and parents from affluent families. You may be surprised at the findings!
My talk also includes my humorous poetry, which describes some of strange adventures that I have experienced!
My follow up talk is called ‘What Dolly Did Next’ and looks at more of Dolly’s adventures entertaining children and trying to manage their parents! It looks in greater depth at Dolly’s rise up the corporate management ladder and her experience working with homeless people. It is a stark reminder that almost anyone can be just one pay cheque away from being homeless.
Dolly then shares fascinating tales about her personal life and how she entered the shark infested waters of internet dating and the oddball characters she met along the way.
There will be more props, new poems along with puppets old and new. This time Dolly invites members of the audience to participate by doing some plate spinning. There are prizes for the best performers!

The talk is a lot of fun with poems, puppets, juggling, and a bit of audience participation too.
