An account of the golden age of Victorian music hall, a colourful and vibrant world of British entertainment for the masses. From it's humble beginnings in taverns, saloons and supper rooms to the grand palaces of variety. Nothing matched the glitz and glamour of a night at the music hall. This talk covers the great performers, Marie Lloyd, Little Tich, Dan Leno and Vesta Tilley as well as stars not so well known today such as Lottie Collins and Gus Elen. Concludes with a chorus sing-along of Victorian music hall songs that are well known and loved to this day.

I am Michele and live in Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire. I have worked for 43 years in the library and archive services for Hull City Council. I have been a speaker for over fifteen years and have a great interest in local and social history. I speak regularly to a wide range of groups including, Probus, W.I.’s, U3A‘s etc, large or small. All my talks last for approx one hour with a full PowerPoint presentation. I can provide my own equipment for presenting and a screen if that's required.
