Following an 18-month battle with Covid-19 and Long Covid, Neil Pitts decided that he needed a challenge. So, in the winter of 2022 and despite having never been on Nordic skis in his life, he and two friends attempted to ski the length of Norway.

A journey that took more than 3 months.

This long-distance route, known as the Norge på langs, is approximately 2,500km long. Only one or two people complete it during winter each year. Most fail.

Neil’s informative and humorous presentation can be delivered either in person or remotely. It includes anecdotes and images from the journey and not only describes this incredible challenge, but also gives an insight into the obstacles he had to overcome just to get to the start line. Plagued by the effects of Long Covid and injuries prior to the trip his lack of skiing skills was going to prove problematic.

The presentation can be tailored to fit your specific requirements and covers not just the obvious topic of adventure travel, but also planning, logistics, recognising success, setting personal challenges, the power of positive attitude, making intelligent decisions.

About Neil Pitts

Neil Pitts is an adventurer and writer based in the UK.

I juggle my love of the great outdoors with my work as a learning & development consultant.

Most adventures usually involve my wife, Amanda, a campervan called Gandalf and mountains. I write a blog and occasionally shoot videos to accompany my trips.

18 months of independent travel in Asia, including numerous trips to Nepal, led to an invitation to work as a trekking guide in Pakistan in 2001. This in turn led to the opportunity to work as an assistant climbing guide on Spantik, a 7,023m (23,048ft) peak in the Pakistan Karakorum in 2005.

It was on this trip that I met my wife-to-be, Amanda. A shared love of the mountains and adventurous travel has taken us on such journeys as a 3 week traverse of the Tyrolese Alps in 2006 (in the footsteps of Frank Smythe’s 1939 journey), an unsupported 7 day kayak adventure around the Exumas in the Bahamas in 2015 and a 4 month climbing trip across Western Europe in 2018.
