My talk is on a priceless collection of Murano Glass Beads that were used, not only as decoration, but as currency in developing countries in exchange for silk, spices, coffee..also, sadly, used in the slave trade.

I am a retired art teacher and designer. I have spent eleven years in Italy and speak fluent Italian. I designed needlepoint in the 80s, then went on to design and commission bespoke rugs from Nepal, which I have visited twice.

I now live in Stonehaven in North East Scotland.
