This presentation, recently delivered for the SWF Local History Society, is the result of three years research into the retailer of Woodham Ferrers and South Woodham Ferrers going back several centuries. Mainly covering 19th and 20th Century events in the villages where shopkeepers and publicans frequently used light weights and were fined again and again. Presentation 2 develops the story told in presentation 1 by focusing on South Woodham Ferrers and again tells the stories of the retailers, their customers and the evolution of postal services in the village using true stories that are stranger than fiction. Photographs and stories from local people enrich the presentation. Mike has recently published a book on his research with the same title as the presentation.
