An explanation of clinical hypnotherapy, including how it works, it’s benefits, and busting the myth of ‘trance’.

When I was a child, I was diagnosed with dyspraxia, a then-poorly understood neurological condition. Struggling with tasks that ‘everyone else’ found easy gave me first-hand experience of the depression and low self-esteem that goes hand in hand for so many with my diagnosis. I started hypnotherapy as a way to deal with the low mood, expecting this to be the beginning of a years-long journey, but instead I found myself with a new lease of life in a matter of weeks. I became fascinated by the science behind this change, learning and reading all I could about neuroscience and psychology. This led me to the highly respected Clifton Practice Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Course, where I was taught by the renowned David Newton. I graduated in 2009 with a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, and have since found that my dyspraxia has been one of my greatest strengths as a therapist. The way my brain understands complex abstract concepts and is capable of imaginative, outside-the-box thinking has been invaluable to my clients. In this regard, I believe that we all already have the tools to resolve any issue we are struggling with; but not all of us are aware of our own full capabilities yet. It is my goal, not to fix my client’s problems, but to help empower them to reach a state where they can properly use their own resources and amaze themselves with what they’re capable of.
I am now available for talks on the psychology of stress, how to cultivate a solution-focused mindset, anxiety management, and many related subjects.
