From a painting of my own Airedale and ideas from my children working on a steam railway, Ruffle the Rail Dog was born! Fast track 7 years and there are now a series of books, assembly performances, bespoke charity books, talks to adult social groups - the journey that Ruffle and I have been on has been incredible in such a short space of time! Join me for an evening with a difference to share how Ruffle has grown with the help of his puppet friends and props - most of which I have made! You'll be amazed at the way I've brought Ruffle's stories to life! From Ruffle's first adventure to a WW1-themed story especially written to remember all animals' contribution in wars, but especially the Airedale Terrier. You will laugh, perhaps you may shed a tear, but you will all go home talking about Ruffle and the memories it will bring back - perhaps of Airedale Terriers, steam trains, childhood and tales still to tell of your own!

The series now has 14 titles, with 4 bespoke books written especially for local and national charities, which include rhyming stories and a WW1 themed tale written to commemorate the ending of WW1. I also wrote a series of Ruffle short stories over 4 years that have appeared in local magazines. Using my teaching experience and that of running drama-based workshops for Curve Theatre, Leicester, I adapted some of the stories into short assembly performances using puppets and props, many of which I have made. Ruffle has visited over 120 schools, adult social groups including dementia and Mencap, and care homes - an incredible journey in a short space of time!
