I am now 82 years old. When I became 78 I realised I was getting old and began to write little rhymes about how it feels & how I am trying to cope. My friends loved them and encouraged me to publish. I have now self published a book on Amazon. search---- 101 Poems for Perky Pensioners! I'm 78!
I visit groups of pensioners / day centres / W I's/Townswomens Guilds/ coffee mornings---anywhere where groups of pensioners meet. I write about my experiences while getting older in a light hearted way. The feedback is always " but I feel just the same!" --- ( after all we are all in the same boat and getting older is no joke!)----People seem to relate to experiences such as---I can't get put of the bath!--- and we always have lots of fun, laughter and chat. Its the most wonderful thing to make people happy and I am so grateful to be able to cheer people up ! My message is always to try to make the most of what we have and to look on the bright side. I meet lots of lovely people and am lucky enough to receive lovely comments such as ---"you lifted us all"----"you lit a spark in me"---"I love your rhymes"---" you are Farnborough's very own Pam Ayres!" ( I don't aspire to the last one but its lovely to hear!) I don't charge a fee as I enjoy it so much. I have a new purpose at 82!!
