As one of the first female prison hospital officers in the UK, I am able to give an insight into providing healthcare to female and male prisoners. From joining up in 1987 (rather unconventionally!), I held many different roles, for example: prison escorts, sick parades, suicide screening etc. I offer an informative, light hearted interpretation of prison life.

I trained as a nurse in the 80s and after a period of time working in NHS and Private healthcare, I joined the HMP service. I worked in women's and men's prisons and held various medical roles. I am now a senior lecturer in Leadership and Management at a Midlands University.
