Shelter is a registered charity that campaigns to end homelessness and bad housing in Great Britain. We give advice, information and advocacy to people in need, and tackle the root causes of bad housing by lobbying government and local authorities for new laws and policies to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people.

We work in partnership with Shelter Cymru in Wales and the Housing Rights Service in Northern Ireland.

Shelter was founded in 1966 and helps people in housing need by providing advice and practical assistance, and fights for better investment in housing and for laws and policies to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people.

The current housing emergency is something that I feel very passionate about. During the first lockdown in March 2020, I was furloughed from my role and took the opportunity to work for a number of small local community organisations where I saw first-hand the huge impact of homelessness in the city of Bristol. I found that experience both humbling and inspiring in equal measures and that is what drove me to work for Shelter.

I have experience of talking to corporates, schools, faith groups and local community groups and can bespoke my presentation to suit any audience.

When developing my presentation, I work in partnership with you to ensure that my talk is relevant, appropriate and compelling.

About Julie Kemp

I am an experienced and passionate speaker and enjoy presenting to groups of people to tell them more about homelessness in the South West of England.

I have worked in the charity sector since July 2015 and I am Regional Community Fundraiser for Shelter, based in Bristol. My role is to build local relationships within my community and tell people more about the current housing emergency and the work of Shelter.
