In 2008 she set up her own award winning project,working alongside her ex homeless dogs. The K9 Project provides alternative education, mental health support, community projects and group work. They specialise in working with children and teenagers with life challenges, Special Educational Needs, physical or mental health difficulites, social isolation and loneliness. They also ran the K9 Community Cafe for 7 years before covid closed the facility down. Focussing on building confidence, getting outdoors, making positive choices, having fun with a wonderful bunch of dogs. The dogs are the centre of it, having experienced a shaky start in life them selves, they provide inspiration, unconditional love, and FUN. Chris is also a published non fiction author (4 books) and her fiction has been featured in several anthologies. Chris has also been on local radio as a panellist, featured on local TV, and is an experienced and enthusiastic speaker.
