About Kathy Thomas

My husband,Ray, and I are both retired teachers. Hailing from Port Talbot, Ray trained at Barry College and started his career teaching Drama in Billericay - true Gavin and Stacey style. Here he directed many major productions and set up a Youth Theatre. He then moved to the Isle of Wight where he became not only Head of Drama but also Manager of a 525 seat community theatre. His next move took him to United World College of South East Asia in Singapore where he was Head of Drama and Artistic Director of the Annual Arts Festival. On returning to UK Ray undertook an MEd at Cardiff Uni and moved from teaching Drama into Community Education, becoming appointed Head of Community Education at a school in Somerset. He became a District Manager in 2001 and took early retirement in 2004. Since then he has lectured at Somerset College of Arts and Technology, undertaken an MA at USW and lectured at USW. I began teaching English at a bilateral school in Reading where I worked with disaffected pupils. From there I moved to Derbyshire and combined part-time teaching with raising a family. I moved to Singapore in 1978 and took up a part-time post at Dover Court Preparatory School, moving to United World College teaching English and Humanities in 1981. Here I directed two productions for the Arts Festival and made a film on location in Malaysia. On returning to UK I undertook several temporary teaching posts before securing a full-time position as Assistant Head of English at a school in Yeovil. From there I moved to the position of Head of English, also teaching Media Studies, at a school in Taunton. Always lovers of theatre, writing, workshopping, etc. it seemed only natural that, in our retirement, Ray and I should set up our own theatre company and provide opportunities for like-minded people of all ages.
