What could be more enjoyable than welcoming birds, bees, butterflies and other wildlife into your garden. Packed with ideas for making your garden more wildlife friendly, Adam Pasco introduces you to some of the best plants to provide nectar for bees, fruits and berries for birds, and flowers that will attract butterflies from far and wide. By attracting wildlife you’ll harness the power of nature on your plot. Birds help by eating pests, many insects play a valuable role in pollinating fruits, while hedgehogs, frogs, toads, beetles and many other creatures help by eating pests too! For anyone keen to grow organically in the garden or allotment without using pesticides there are ideas galore in this illustrated talk, such as encouraging beneficial insects like ladybirds and hoverflies to help in the fight against greenfly and aphids. And don't miss Adam's tips on controlling slugs and snails on crops and flowers, codling moth in apples, red spider mite on greenhouse crops, and many other troublesome garden pests. Picking the best varieties is key, so Adam highlights his favourite varieties of crops, fruits and flowers. There’s advice on choosing the best vegetables with inbuilt resistance against disease, making compost from kitchen and garden waste, plus tips to help you win the war against weeds. Find out how to create mini-habitats for creatures to shelter, make bug boxes for solitary bees to lay their eggs, and choose nesting boxes for different birds. He'll also provide ideas for greening bare walls and fences with climbers and shrubs, plus advice on making the garden more attractive to wildlife all-year-round. This talk is available as a fully illustrated ZOOM talk and is available at short notice

About Adam Pasco

Over past years I've given hundreds of illustrated talks (frequently via Zoom) to gardening groups up and down the country as well as speaking on cruise holidays and at live events like Gardeners' World Live. As a keen photographer, my talks are illustrated with beautiful plant and garden pictures and videos, many taken in my own Peterborough garden.

I have been a leading gardening journalist in the UK for over 40 years, successfully launching and editing BBC Gardeners' World Magazine for 22 of these. I now run my own company, Adam Pasco Media, as a writer and content provider, photographer, lecturer, and consultant to clients in the gardening industry. In addition to BBC Gardeners’ World, I have been Editor of Garden News, Garden Answers, BBC Easy Gardening and Waitrose Garden magazine.

I have twice been crowned 'Editor of the Year' by the British Society of Magazine Editors, and been awarded 'Practical Journalist of the Year' by the Garden Media Guild.

I've written a gardening column for The Daily Telegraph, and wrote and edited 'The Collins Complete Garden Manual', as well as contributions to many other books, magazines and web sites.

I've made guest appearances on Gardeners' World and Gardeners' Question Time, and over the years worked alongside a host of leading gardening celebrities on television, at events and gardening cruises including Alan Titchmarsh, Carol Klein, Monty Don, Geoff Hamilton, Rachel de Thame, Joe Swift, and a host of others.

Apart from gardening I'm in a ukulele band, play guitar, and love cooking and photography.
