A presentation about the life of the transistor - from humble beginnings in transistor radios to powering today's Internet connected world.

The talk aims to explain the significance of the transistor to non-technical people and the shrinking scale of circuitry as we chase faster and lower power circuits.

How does your smartphone work? Well we won't try and explain that, but perhaps the basic building blocks of Information Technology from which everything else is created.

About Mark Snape

Hi

Thanks for looking at my profile. I've worked with tech all my life, and also been a Rotarian for over 25 years. During that time I've had opportunities to bring simple tech solutions to solve organisational issues seen within a large customer base such as Rotary.

One of the things I developed is this site SpeakerNet, to help clubs such as mine find suitable speakers. It started with an excel list of about 50 speakers in the east midlands and grew from there.

I also have a site https://rotarota.net which helps groups of volunteers organise the staffing of activities such as santa street collections or running of volunteer maintained venues.
