This talk covers the South West, South East, East Anglia, Midlands and North East of England. Wonders include landscape features, monuments, memorials, inventions and sculptures, with a section on the places mentioned in some of Thomas Hardy's novels. Which institution gives out dole of bread and ale? Who invented the slide rule? What is the origin of a Jack-in-a-box? And where are the oldest fragments of glass set in a window to be found? The answers have come from the wonders of various religious institutions in England.
Views: 47 | Enquiries: 0I give a series of illustrated themed talks on country walking, both rural and urban, under the umbrella title of Amazing Walks. The talks are fully illustrated with a digital photographic show and I bring all my own equipment. I have given talks to W.I.s, U3As, PROBUS and various other groups and have received very positive feedback. I have been successfully auditioned by Lancashire Federation of WIs and I am on the recommended list of North West U3A groups. I have been complimented on the details given in the talks and the quality of my photographs. I can travel to groups within Lancashire and Cheshire or anywhere within a 45 mile radius or so of Manchester. I am afraid but I cannot take any more bookings for 2026 as my calendar is full. Please book early for 2027 as the places are limited and are soon filled up. Provisional bookings will be accepted also.
