About Alex Hall

I’m an actress and radio presenter. A bit of a late starter. I became a professional performer when I was 39. And 30 years later I’m still at it, doing TV and film whenever I can. I did my first radio show on a commercial station in the late 80s and was one of the few women presenters hosting a late night Phone in.

Nowadays I have a regular show on BBC local radio and enjoy doing lots of voiceover work (TV programmes, audio books, commercials) I’m also a drama teacher and university lecturer ( I did a three year degree in two years and graduated with a First Class in BA ( Hons) when I was 65). I’ve hosted many large events at venues like St George's hall in Bradford and the Last Night of the Proms when it was live from Middlesbrough. I’ve done warm up for Radio 4’s Any Questions and spoken at numerous diverse events. I love writing and, with a friend, created a pilot for a Radio 4 type comedy. I enjoy what I do and have no plans to retire.

Although the talk is mainly about entertainment, I’d like to think it can also be inspirational regarding mid-life career change and overcoming preconceptions about older people.
