Devon Ghost Tales is not just another set of Devon Ghost Stories. Janet is a storyteller and folklorist- finding the old stories and sharing them with new audiences. But she also researches and digs deep for the stories behind the stories. These are tales based on the oral tradition in Devon- and some of them have been recreated from the threads of a few lines in a book and local history. In this talk, she tells some of the stories but also describes how the research lead to new information, and how she was mistaken for a ghost herself.

Janet performs professionally as an oral storyteller and runs workshops for people to learn the skills of storytelling. She won a prize from the Folklore Society for her paper on "Naming the Green Man of the medieval church." "Devon Ghost Tales" is published by The History Press. 2018
