My talk tells the fascinating and entertaining story of the growth of the popular music publishing industry in the 1920's- the sometimes crooked publishers; the well known performers; the 'one hit wonders'; plagiarism; and the wonderful composers and lyricists who created some of the tunes we still treasure today.

About David John Kimmins

I have played banjo and guitar in Jazz bands for over 50 years as a semi professional. During that time I have had a growing interest in the work of songwriters and lyricists and the fascinating origins of the popular and jazz music of the 1920's and 30's.
