Details of talks given by Daniel McLoughlin
I represent The Donkey Sanctuary, both as a part of the international equine charity, but perhaps more importantly - and more pertinent to the talks that I go out and deliver across the region – I talk on behalf of the Donkey Facilitated Learning centre out of which I am based here in Eccup, on the outskirts of Leeds.
Here we deliver a Schools Programme each week to around 60 children with additional needs, or who are ‘looked after’ and/or vulnerable. Most recently, we now also deliver our Donkey Facilitated Learning programme for a growing number of vulnerable adults. We also run an Outreach program, delivering donkey interaction at nursing homes and hospices across the region, working largely with dementia sufferers. We also visit residential and day centres, working with adults with learning difficulties, and further have an educational Outreach Programme - or 'Donkey Roadshow' - which we roll out at schools and nurseries. All this, plus we are a part of the largest equine animal welfare charity in the world!
I can talk capably about the work we do worldwide as a charity, focusing on the work we do in communities abroad, or I can talk about the work we do on a more local level here and/or across the UK – I am happy to tailor a talk to whatever a group would like to hear about, and quite often let a talk take me wherever the audience’s questions take it. Our talks are informative, but we like to keep them fun also, as there is plenty of joy to share in the work we do.
